John Cadzow (Owner/President)
If there was one thing I wanted people to know about us is how hard we work to make the experience enjoyable, fair and most of all honest”. The Auction business is fast and there are a lot of them that come and go. My family has owned WSM since 1971. We’ve been around for a while and have always taken care of our customers. When my dad was ready to retire in 2002 I stepped in. With Dad being from the “old-school” things were changing and I was the young guy with all the ideas, he was more than happy to hand it over. Since then I’ve carried on my dad’s legacy of “Always dealing fair” and taking care of the customers. We’ve brought in new technologies and understand the importance of also keeping up with the times. The one thing that has never gone out of style from Dad’s old school days is our overwhelming desire to take care of the customer at the highest level.
To us… All actions matter even the small ones no one sees but us.
Krista Merrow (Operations Manager)
“I treat the business like it where my own” I started out in the car business when I was 13 doing part-time odds and ends around the Earnhardt dealership. When I turned 16 I started working full-time doing office work, titles, cashiering and taking care of the customers. “I love working with people, there’s always a new challenge, a problem to solve, and at the end of it all you get to make someone’s day a little better”. I worked for the dealership for about 4 years after I turned 16 and then got an opportunity to work for the Arizona Auto Auction. It was fast paced and exciting. My experience working for the dealership really paid off and I liked the Auction business a lot. I worked for AAA for about two years when I was offered a position with WSM. WSM had a great reputation in the Auction business and the opportunity was right where I wanted to be. I’ve worked for WSM for nearly eight years now and I wouldn’t consider making a move. I love working with my team.We all know our jobs and work really hard to make sure everyone is taken care of. Everyone here really cares and it shows.
Lori Valiente (Operations Support)
Every day is different; I never wake up and think ugh… I ugh…have to go to work”. For the past eight years I’ve worked with WSM on Auction day to help customers sign-up for the Auction, work with the auctioneers, and bidders. I started working full-time about 5 ½ months ago. “I love it” there’s never a dull moment, which for me is good; I really like to keep moving and keep things organized. I help in the yard to bring in the consignments and get them ready for their new owners. I work in the office with Krista and the girls to get paperwork handled for the consignors and winning bidders. It’s exciting…For me it’s the people I work with, the job, and the customers. It’s very fulfilling to pull off an auction; moving a thousand people through the process on Auction day is extremely gratifying.
Renie Van Den Berg (Transport & Logistics)
“My experience driving a rig really comes in handy in moving large scale equipment safely from point-to-point as well as loading and unloading”. I drove a truck for 18 years for my family’s hay business the hours were long and I spent a lot of time on the road. With WSM I’m home every night, and the job is never boring. Sometimes I miss driving the truck and the open road, but I often get the chance to drive the WSM rig and there’s always equipment to operate that takes care of that craving. The job is challenging... There are always new types of consignments, challenging transport logistics, and I really enjoy who I work with. We are a big family here, everyone knows their job, and John’s right there working with us in the yard. WSM is a really great company and I’ve enjoyed working here very much.
Rigo Rodriguez (Security & Maintenance)
“I keep the yard clean, safe, organized and ready for business”. I owned my own tree trimming business for many years before I came to work with WSM. I met John about ten years ago when I used to cut his palms. John invited me down to the Auction yard to take care of the plants and keep it looking nice and I never left. “The work is steady and I can take care of my family more easily, I know I will always have a job here. John’s a good man”. I really take pride in my work it’s important that the yard is in good shape so customers can find what they are looking for in a safe way. As grounds caretaker I keep WSM ready for business and pick up the slack whenever and wherever needed.
